A second day in the Scottish Highlands
I have done very little birdwatching in the UK in the last 12 years, a few days here and there when I had chance to visit from Dubai. Since returning to the UK I have set myself some targets, several of which occur mostly in Scotland. Some are life birds some are birds seen but not photographed. Bird Photography is my passion and so I was very happy to come across several birds on my "birding tour" that were on said list and photographable. My host had informed me of a likely location for Brent Goose but would need a high tide to get good shots. Tide information as you probably know is readily available and so we were able to plan our visit, I was not disappointed. The weather was not great, but hey this is Scotland !
Other birds ticked off the "picture list" were Wigeon, Whooper Swans, a particularly nice Goosander, Goldcrest and best of all Red Knot. I had only seen one very distant vagrant bird in the UAE several years ago and so it was great to see two up close and personal in terrific light at the end of the day.
